There’s something so exciting about finding the perfect award flight. It’s like solving a puzzle where all the pieces – dates, destinations, and points – fall perfectly into place. But honestly, some routes can be tricky to navigate, or sometimes you’re visiting a new destination and aren’t sure which airlines fly there or how to earn the points. This is when I turn to my favorite award search tool: Roame.
What is Roame?
Roame is a fantastic, free award search platform that scans availability across 20+ airline loyalty programs. Even better, it shows you exactly how to book a flight once you’ve found one that works for you!
The free version is great and it lets you search specific destinations over a three-day window. This is perfect if you have specific dates and destinations in mind.
However, if you’re looking for more flexibility or just trying to brainstorm trip ideas, their paid version expands your search to include entire countries and a broader range of dates.
How to search for flights
Here’s how to use Roame.
Begin your search by inputting your starting airport, destination, and desired departure date. You’ll also see at the top that you can select what class you would like to fly in or add additional travelers.
Your options will pop up and show you information like what airline the flight is operated by, what program you can book through, the points rate, and all relevant flight information. You can also see +/- 1 day at the top to compare rates across multiple days.
In the example below, you’ll notice that the best option for our chosen route is an Air France flight booked through Virgin Atlantic. 15,000 miles for a direct flight to Europe is a steal! You’ll also notice that the taxes are a bit high. You can see the option directly below it for slightly more points and fewer taxes.
After you choose the flight that works best, you can click on the arrow on the right side of the screen to expand even more details about that flight. You’ll also see all the transfer partner options here, which I LOVE.
From here, you can click on the red “Book” button to take you directly to the airline website to book that exact flight.
Or, you can click the “Transfer” button depending in which points you have and it will walk you through the step-by-step process for transferring your points and booking the flight. SO helpful!

Other helpful resources
At the top of the home screen, you’ll find some other resources like in-depth guides, credit card recommendations, and, probably the best free tool, the Discover page.
This is the page you can go for travel inspiration. Roame collects the best deals and shows you rates from any airport that you choose from the drop-down list during your specified time frame. This is especially helpful if you’re flexible with your destination!
SkyView: a Pro feature you won’t want to miss
The Pro membership for Roame offers many other features to make your award search even quicker and more efficient. And I mean it when I say that this is honestly my favorite award search tool I have ever used.
On the home page, toggle on the “SkyView” option. SkyView lets you conduct a broader search, so you can input a single country as your origin and destination if you’re flexible about the specific city you want to visit. This is especially helpful when looking for international business class travel.
In this example, I searched business class deals from the U.S. to France for the whole month of October.
SkyView quickly pulled up multiple options. You can even filter the results further if you’d like to search for nonstop routes, if you have a specific points budget, or want to filter out any routes that are out of the desired range.
It really is SO helpful.
