This mid-tier Amex Marriott card is good for people who want to boost their Marriott points stash. The annual fee is on the higher side for a mid-level card and the benefits are somewhat limited, so the best time to grab it is when it has an elevated welcome offer like right now.

Marriott Bonvoy points are best used for free nights at Marriott properties. Here are some of the best ways to use them:

  • Book free nights at thousands of Marriott propertie around the world - from budget to bougie
  • Use free night certificates at participating hotels — learn how to use Marriott 50k certificates
  • Use Points + Cash awards to stretch your points further

A decent Marriott card — best opened during an elevated offer like this one.

  • The annual fee is a bit high for what you get in terms of ongoing benefits
  • The elevated welcome offer is the main draw here — 175,000 points is a lot!
  • Gold status is a nice perk if you stay at Marriott properties regularly
  • Probably not a long-term keeper unless you're a dedicated Marriott fan
