If you fly Delta even a few times a year, the free checked bag perk alone can easily offset the annual fee. One round-trip with a checked bag saves you $70, so it pays for itself quickly. This is a solid card for people who at least occasionally fly Delta and want real everyday value.

Delta SkyMiles are best used for flights on Delta and its airline partners. Here are some of the best ways to use them:

  • Book Delta flights directly on delta.com using miles
  • Book partner flights on Air France, KLM, Virgin Atlantic, and more
  • Upgrade to first class or Comfort+ on Delta flights
  • Use Pay with Miles to offset the cost of any Delta ticket
  • American Express points transfer to Delta if you need to top off — Learn more about Amex Membership Rewards®

The free checked bag perk makes this card practically pay for itself.

  • One round-trip with a checked bag saves you $70, which is almost half the annual fee right there
  • Great for families flying Delta together — the free bag covers up to 8 companions!
  • Welcome offer is solid for a mid-tier card
  • Might not be worth it if you rarely fly Delta or always travel with just a carry-on
