My thoughts
The annual companion certificate is the standout perk on this card. If you use it, it can easily pay for the annual fee all by itself. Add in the free checked bags, flight credits, and Global Entry credit and there's a lot of value for regular Delta flyers.
How to use your points
Delta SkyMiles are best used for flights on Delta and its partners. Here are some of the best ways to use them:
- Book Delta flights — use the 15% miles discount on Award Travel
- Book partner flights on Air France, KLM, Virgin Atlantic, and more
- Upgrade to first class or Comfort+ on Delta flights
- Use Pay with Miles to offset the cost of any Delta ticket

That annual companion certificate can single-handedly justify the entire annual fee.
- If you travel with a companion even once a year, the companion certificate alone covers the fee
- 15% discount on award travel is a nice bonus on top of everything else
