My thoughts
This is the no-fee version of the Venture card, and the main reason to open it is the welcome offer — 20,000 miles for just $500 in spending in the first 3 months is one of the easiest welcome offers to earn out there. The ongoing earning rate of 1.25x isn't exciting compared to other cards, but it's better than just 1x, and the 0% intro APR is a nice perk if you have a big purchase coming up. I'd mainly recommend this one for people who are just getting started with Capital One Miles and want to dip their toes in without paying an annual fee. If you're already comfortable with the program, the Venture or Venture X will serve you better long-term.
How to use your points
Capital One miles earned on this card transfer to the same 15+ partners as the Venture and Venture X. Here are some of the best ways to use them:
- Transfer to 15+ airline and hotel partners — Capital One transfer partners
- Cover travel purchases on your statement at 1 cent per mile, so every 10,000 miles = $100 covered
- Use miles to cover the cost of a cruise — How to book a cruise with points
- Use miles to help offset the cost of a Disney trip — Disney on points
A no-risk entry point into Capital One miles — best for beginners those lookng to fill time between other cards.
- The welcome offer is one of the easiest to earn with just $500 in spending in 3 months
- No annual fee means you can keep it open forever with no downside
- The 0% intro APR is a nice bonus if you have a big purchase coming up
- The 1.25x ongoing earn rate is modest, so it's best to eventually upgrade to the Venture or Venture X for better long-term value
