There is currently an amazing elevated offer on my favorite points and miles card for beginners – the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card. This card is great even when it doesn’t have a high bonus, but when it does? It’s unbeatable!
Currently, you can get 100,000 points when you spend $5,000 in the first three months from account opening. That’s 40,000 points more than the standard offer. Crazy! After you’ve met the spending requirement, you’ll end up with at least 105,000 points.
So, once you have that huge stash of points, what exactly can you do with them? First, let’s go through the three main ways they can be used. Then, we’ll go over a list of options for how to use them to book trips.
Three ways to use your points
There are three main ways to use your Chase Ultimate Rewards®.
- Cash them out for a statement credit. When you cash out these points, they are worth one cent per point. This means that every 10,000 points is worth $100. So, 100,000 points would be worth $1,000 when cashed out. You can do this to cover the cost of any travel that you book on your card.
- Use them to book flights, hotels, or rental cars through Chase Travel℠. When used this way, you get a 25% boost. This means that 100,000 points are worth $1250 toward travel.
- Transfer them to hotel and airline partners. You can transfer your points from Chase to one of 11 different hotel and airline transfer partners. This is often my favorite way to use them because it tends to help stretch your points the furthest. Here are your transfer partner options:
- Aer Lingus
- Air Canada
- British Airways
- Emirates
- Flying Blue (Air France-KLM)
- Iberia
- JetBlue
- Singapore
- Southwest
- United
- Virgin Atlantic
- Hyatt
- IHG
- Marriott

Wrapping Up
As you can see, there are a ton of ways you can use your points with transfer partners to book some amazing trips!
You’ll notice that all of the hotels are Hyatt properties. That’s because their points rates are the lowest among all of the hotel brands, so it’s a sweet spot for using Chase points. Chase does have two other hotel partners – IHG and Marriott – but we prefer to open a co-branded hotel card to earn points for those.
No matter how you decide to use your points, jumping on the amazing 100,000 point elevated offer on the Sapphire Preferred is step one. After you’ve gotten that windfall of points, your options are limitless.
