My thoughts
This card is a great pick for someone who wants simple, straightforward cash back with no annual fee. The 3% at U.S. supermarkets, U.S. gas stations, and U.S. online retailers covers a huge chunk of most families' everyday spending, and there's no annual fee eating into your earnings. The Disney and Home Chef credits are nice bonuses if you're already paying for those services. That said, if you're willing to pay a small annual fee and your grocery spending is high, the Blue Cash Preferred is almost certainly going to put more cash back in your pocket. I'd also note that this card has a foreign transaction fee, so leave it at home when you're traveling internationally.
How to use your points
Cash back on this card is simple — here's how to use it:
- Redeem Reward Dollars as a statement credit against any purchase on your account
- Redeem Reward Dollars at Amazon.com checkout
Clean, simple cash back with no annual fee. A great starter card for everyday spending.
- 3% at U.S. supermarkets, U.S. gas stations, AND U.S. online retail covers most everyday spending
- No annual fee means every dollar of cash back goes straight to you
- The Disney and Home Chef credits are a nice bonus if you use those services
- Has a foreign transaction fee, so it's not ideal for international travel
- If you spend a lot on groceries, the Blue Cash Preferred will likely earn you more even after the annual fee
