Hilton Free Night Certificates (FNC) are unmatched in the points world. Unlike FNCs from other hotels, such as Hyatt and Marriott, which are limited to specific values, Hilton FNCs are the only ones that can be used at any property in Hilton’s portfolio. There is no limit, making them incredibly valuable.
And the best part? Once a year, we see elevated offers that include an FNC as part of the welcome offer on the Hilton credit cards, and now is that time! So, let’s take a look at these offers and dive into how to earn and use those valuable Hilton Free Night Certificates.

Hilton Cards
There are three Hilton cards that currently have elevated offers that include Hilton Free Night Certificates.
- Hilton Honors American Express Card: Earn 70,000 Hilton Honors Bonus Points + a Free Night Reward after you spend $2,000 in purchases in the first 6 months of Card Membership.
- Hilton Honors American Express Surpass® Card: Earn 130,000 Hilton Honors Bonus Points + a Free Night Reward after you spend $3,000 in purchases in the first 6 months of Card Membership. You can earn an additional FNC on this card when you spend $15,000 in one calendar year.
- Hilton Honors Business Card: Earn 175,000 Hilton Honors Bonus Points + a Free Night Reward after you spend $8,000 in purchases in the first 6 months of Card Membership.
All three of these cards have elevated, limited-time offers that end on April 15th, 2026.
Note: The American Express Hilton Honors Aspire Card also has a limited-time elevated offer, but it does not include a Hilton Free Night Certificate with the welcome offer. However, the card comes with an FNC each year as part of its premium benefits, so you’ll still have one if you open the card.

Hilton Free Night Certificates
As I mentioned above, Hilton FNCs are incredibly valuable because they can be used at any Hilton property worldwide with no limits on their value. The only limitation is that they can only be used for a standard award night. They can’t be used for premium award nights or suites.
As long as you see the “standard room reward” listed, you can use a certificate to book your stay.

This means that you can stay at properties that cost hundreds or thousands of dollars per night as long as there’s a standard room available. Craziness!
Other things to know about these FNCs:
- They expire one year after being issued. Your stay must be competed by the one year mark, not just booked by then.
- There are no resort fees when you book with FNCs (or points), so you can have a truly zero dollar hotel stay.
- There are no blackout dates. If there’s a standard room available, you can book it.
- The fine print says certificates can take 8-14 weeks to appear in your account, but more often than not, it’s much quicker than that.
- These certificates cannot be combined with Hilton’s fifth-night-free policy.
- You can use multiple FNCs for a longer stay.
How to Find and Book a Hotel Using a Free Night Certificate
Hilton FNCs live in your Hilton Honors account, so they’re easy to see and track.

To use your certificate, you will need to either call Hilton (800-446-6677) or use their chat feature.
Make sure you find standard room award availability for the property you want to stay at before you call.
To do this, log in to your Hilton Honors account, enter your search criteria, and choose “special rates” then “use points”.

You can compare all available hotels. Ensure that “use points” is checked at the top, then you can see which hotels show “standard room reward” available.

Once you’ve decided where you want to stay, use the chat feature or call Hilton to get it booked.
Here’s a tip for you if you’re having trouble finding standard room availability. Do your search like regular, then after you see the results, click “Edit Stay” at the top of the page, then click your dates. A calendar will pop up, allowing you to choose flexible dates to help you find the lowest-priced nights.

Ideas for Using Your Hilton Free Night Certificates
Because Hilton FNCs can be used at any property, there are some really aspirational properties to keep your eyes on. This list is not exhaustive, but it’s a great place to start.
Also, just know that while the properties below are gorgeous and provide huge value for your certificates, they can also be used for smaller, less “dreamy” properties. A free night is a free night!
