The Global Companion Award

Every account anniversary, you receive a 25,000-point Global Companion Award, good for up to 25,000 points off a companion’s award ticket booked on the same itinerary through Atmos Rewards. At typical point valuations, that’s worth somewhere around $375 (assuming you use the full value of the Global Companion Award), which comes close to covering the entire annual fee in one use.

Just keep in mind: if your companion’s award costs less than 25,000 points, you lose the difference. It doesn’t roll over or partially refund.

If you spend $60,000 in a cardmember year, you’ll also earn a 100,000-point Global Companion Award, worth substantially more. $60,000 sounds like a lot, but if you’re already running high monthly expenses through the card, it’s more doable than you might realize.

Lounge Passes and Other Perks

The 8 lounge passes and 8 Wi-Fi passes (2 of each per quarter) are a nice touch for frequent flyers. However, they don’t roll over to the next quarter, so keep that in mind. If you don’t use your quarterly allotment, it’s gone at quarter’s end, so this only pays off if you’re actually flying regularly enough to use them.

The waived partner award booking fee is one of the more underrated perks here. Booking certain partner airlines (like American Airlines) through Atmos typically incurs a $20 nonrefundable booking fee per person/each way, and while I think it’s worth it either way, the Atmos Summit waives it entirely for your party (assuming you pay for the ticket using your Summit). If you book partner awards even just a few times, that adds up fast.

Using Your Points

Like the Atmos™ Rewards Ascent Visa Signature® credit card, points from the Summit card are earned directly with your Atmos Rewards account, with no separate transfer partner step needed.

Booking award flights on Alaska, Hawaiian, or Oneworld partners

To book an award flight, log in to your Atmos Rewards account, enter your travel details, select “Use points,” and search available award flights. My dedicated Atmos Rewards article shows you the steps in more detail if you prefer pictures.

Because Alaska is a OneWorld member, this same search also shows you partner awards on airlines such as American, British Airways, Qatar, Japan Airlines, Cathay Pacific, and Qantas, as well as non-alliance partners like Icelandair and Korean Air. This means you have access to 1,000+ destinations worldwide, not just Alaska and Hawaiian’s own routes. These partner flights can be incredibly well-priced, so they’re worth taking a look at.

Redeeming your Global Companion Award

Log in to your Atmos Rewards account, click your profile icon, then Discounts / Companion Fare. You’ll see your Global Companion Award and its expiration date listed. Click “Use to Book” to carry it directly into the Alaska Airlines booking flow, search your route with 2 passengers and “use points” selected, and the award discount will apply automatically once eligible flights populate.

Combine it with rent payments, if that’s your thing

Some cardholders route rent payments through Bilt’s partnership with Alaska Airlines to earn points and reach the $60,000 spending threshold faster, since rent is often the largest recurring expense in a household budget. There’s a transaction fee involved with that route, so run the math for your own situation before committing to it as a strategy.
