Why Hyatt Is The Best

In the world of travel rewards, there is one name that consistently sticks out: Hyatt. This is because it has easy-to-earn points, outsized redemption value, and an extensive network of great properties around the world. Let’s look at why Hyatt stands out above the other hotel brands.

Low Points Redemptions

First and foremost, the World of Hyatt program is unparalleled compared to other brands’ award programs thanks to their award charts and low redemption rates. All Hyatt properties are assigned a category that correlates to an award chart. This makes it super easy to know how many points you need for an award stay.

Additionally, even the most aspirational properties require far fewer points than other brands. The most expensive, fancy properties are a Category 8, which costs 40,000 points for a standard night. This is the same cost (or less!) as basic properties at other brands.

Transfer From Chase

Another one of the main reasons why Hyatt is my favorite is because you can transfer points from Chase Ultimate Rewards®, which is one of the most versatile and valuable credit card rewards programs. Points are easy to earn, and they transfer to Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio in increments of 1,000.

• Six nights at the Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile
• Four nights at the all-inclusive Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos
• Four nights in Dublin, Ireland
• Two nights at a castle in Galway, Ireland
• Multiple trips to San Francisco (go Giants!)
• Many, many trips to Disneyland where we stayed at the Hyatt Place Anaheim or the Hyatt House Anaheim
• A handful of random nights in places like Santa Cruz, LA, San Diego, Sacramento, and more

I’m telling you, the possibilities are endless!

Earning Hyatt/Chase Points

There are multiple ways to earn points that can be redeemed for Hyatt stays. You can open the World of Hyatt Credit Card, however, the welcome offer is generally pretty low, so it’s not my first choice for earning Hyatt points.

My top choice is the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card! This card earns Ultimate Rewards and it’s the card that gives you access to all of Chase’s travel partners (like Hyatt).

You can also open the premium version of this card- the Chase Sapphire Reserve®. It has a much higher annual fee but also has many benefits that help offset it. You can have either the Reserve or Preferred, but not both. Another option is to open the Reserve and then downgrade to the Preferred after one year (or later) if you feel like the benefits are no longer useful.

Finally, there are multiple Chase Ink Business cards that all earn Ultimate Rewards. You can open each of these for the same business.

• Ink Business Cash® Credit Card– earns 5X at office supply stores and on phone/internet services
• Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card– earns 3X on travel, shipping, internet, phone, and cable

Note- you will need the Sapphire Preferred, Sapphire Reserve, or Ink Preferred to transfer to Chase’s travel partners. You can combine points from any of your Ultimate Rewards-earning points onto one card and then transfer them over to a travel partner.

How to Transfer Chase Points to Hyatt

Let me show you exactly how to transfer your points from Chase to Hyatt. Always be sure to check availability for your dates at the property you want to stay at before transferring.

First, log in to your Chase account, click on your card, then Ultimate Rewards®, then redeem.

Next, choose travel, then transfer points to partners.

After that, select which partner to transfer to. In this case, we’re choosing Hyatt.

Finally, enter your personal information, including your name and Hyatt number (make sure you have a Hyatt account set up first!), then enter how many points you want to transfer. Last, review the details and hit submit!

Transfers are usually instant, so you should be able to go into your Hyatt account and see the transferred points right away.

Other Reasons To Love Hyatt

The redemption potential with Hyatt goes beyond just free nights. While this is by far my favorite way to use points, Hyatt also offers a variety of other redemption options including room upgrades, dining and spa credits, and even experiences through their FIND program. I recently booked Broadway tickets using my Hyatt points!

Furthermore, they have some of the best customer service in the industry. Their Hyatt Chat feature is very easy to use when you need to book or change reservations or find out more information about certain properties, their customer service reps are helpful, and they have an overall atmosphere of positivity and friendliness.

In conclusion, Hyatt is the best! They prove time and again why they reign supreme as the ultimate choice for maximizing Chase points and opening up epic vacation options for all types of travelers.
